Abhijit-EKThey're just about a year old, but already among the more skilled metal acts from the South. Super group of sorts- Escher's Knot, catches up with Headbangers India for a short round of Q & A. Read on...

HB: Congratulations for the win at Saarang! With the general bias that people have towards metal bands, your competitors at Decibels and the choice of judges, did you expect to win?

EK: Thanks a tonne. We really had an amazing weekend, thanks one and all who came and supported us. As for the biasing issues, its really not new to any band existing out there, everyone has experienced it. We just wanted to play as tight as we could and just go and have fun onstage and we did it! Hope they rip the competition off and make it something like a "SAARANG
MUSIC FESTIVAL" where bands don't get to whine about any judging bias.

HB: We couldn't help but notice the flex banner in the background move according to the music. Was that a planned part of your awesome stage act?! :P

EK: Hahaha.. That really wasn't planned as such. It was our very good friends who were up there (Nicky and Sid) who had no support or whatsoever, couldn't headbang or mosh I suppose ended up making the banner move according to music.

HB: About your 'Super-Group' status... Do you think the fact that all of you have been part of good bands earlier helps in making Escher's Knot a tighter act?

EK: 'Super-group?' We really don't wear undies over our pants :P Ok that was a bad one! :P LOL. We still have a long way to go, We're this really like minded musicians who're trying out something different with whatever we were playing before and its turning to work out just fine for us. Other than that we're just like any other band.

HB: Apart from Manu, none of you are from Chennai. Once you are done with your education here, do you have plans of continuing the band? Have you thought of a long term plan for EK?

EK: Yeah! Looks like Escher's Knot has long term plan. All of us are here till the end of this year for sure. We still haven't thought about whats the scene after that. Hopefully it all works out fine. Depends on lots of factors which we're sure we'll make it work.

HB: In an interview we had with you some time back, you had said that you were still in the thinking stage about the EP/album. Have you made any decisions regarding that as yet? Can we expect an album anytime soon?

EK: Yeeeup! The blue print is all getting set now, EK will be hitting studios very soon definitely an EP should be out by April/May.

HB: There comes a time when every band stops competing, and starts performing professionally, headlining shows etc. Do you think the time has come for Escher's Knot to do that?

EK: Hmmm.. I don't know if we've achieved that stage as of now. We've not played anywhere in North. So if its a competition there we've no other choice to play it! Lets see, at least till the recording scenes are sorted we will need moolah.. We really don't have much shows other than competitions outside as well,So it basically depends :).

HB: Is there anything else you'd like to add here? Any 'inspirational' words to fans?

EK: Thank you, Headbangers. In for this interview. You guys are doing one helluva Job! *RESPECT*
