Judas Priest was honored with a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category in the award function held recently. The band was nominated for the track "Dissident Aggressor", from their 2009 live album "A Touch of Evil: Live".

As I Lay Dying have announced the title of their upcoming, fifth full-length album as 'The Powerless Rise'. 
Florida based metal band Trivium have just announced Nick Augusto as their new permanent drummer. Augusto was introduced to Trivium fans when he filled in in the band's "Into the Mouth of Hell We Tour" trek. He is now stepping in to permanently replace the departing Travis Smith.
Singer Eric Kalsbeek has left Textures to focus on his job and his family. He’s issued the following statement:
James Owen Sullivan, drummer and backup vocalist for the Southern California band Avenged Sevenfold, was found dead in his house on Monday, the 28th of December. Sullivan was 28.
